Dunwoody High School opened its doors in 1972 as Dunwoody was growing from a quiet bedroom community into a vibrant suburb of Atlanta. DHS graduated it’s first class in 1975, and in 1988 merged with Peachtree High School. The 2 schools compromised to join the school colors of red, white, and blue from Peachtree and the DHS Wildcat mascot to give Dunwoody High the spirited look it has today.
In 2010-11 DHS received a $20 million renovation that included additional classrooms, science labs, computer lab, mass communications broadcast studio, and 500 seat auditorium with a performance stage.
With a strong tradition of academics and athletics, Dunwoody has graduated students that have gone on to become prominent in business, professional sports, entertainment, and politics.
Over the last 4 decades, families have continued to choose Dunwoody as a place to live and work, raise and educate their children. Today, Dunwoody High School is a cornerstone of the community supported by 6 elementary feeder schools and 1 middle school.
